The Future of RAG

Just wanted to let you know about this Monday, (14th April) 6:30-7:30 pm. The RAG committee are holding another open meeting upstairs in the University Arms near the IC.

We will be electing a new committee (For next year) on the 21st April (2 weeks away) and this Monday is a perfect opportunity if you’d like to come along and find out more about the RAG committee, see a meeting in action and find out about next years positions!

The last big event for the outgoing committee is RAG week. We need lots of help running events or helping with publicity for the week. We’ll also be brain storming /mind mapping about the Week at Mondays meeting, we are very keen to generate some ideas about publicity –to here any novel ideas for advertising the week (facebook flash mob anyone?) We’ll also be talking about the events that are planned for the week and are keen to get anyone’s ideas on extra ones that we could do too? There will also be a chance for anyone who wants to take on a role for RAG week to signup to do so..

So if you’re keen and would like to get more involved in charity fundraising, either later this term or next year, you’d be more than welcome if wanted to come along this Monday

Roll on 2008!

Here at RAG we’re always keeping busy and after the great success we had last term we’re planning on making 2008 even bigger and better!

So whilst you’re busy revising away, just remember you’ve got the legendry RAG bar crawl- 'Get Hitched', RAG Raids and of course Bummit, as well as some other exciting events we’ve got lined up to look forward to.

And it’s all in the name of raising even more money for charity.

Hurray I hear you cry! So keep those diaries free and roll on the new term… .

RAG's christmas social

the RAG christmas social is on MONDAY starting in the University Arms at 8PM! The pub will have some RAG X'mas drinks deals on over the next few days, it will be selling carling and other beers with £1 from every pint going to the charity Amy's Retreat, so there is no excuse not to get involved + we are heading to population afterwards and if you've taken part in RAG this term we'll give you a free ticket! all are welcome to join us. we'll just see you in the arms at 8 .

Can you Bummit?

Fancy a bit of a challenge? Want to do something a bit different? Then this event is for you!!! Basically everyone has heard of the main Bummit well this is the same just a baby version and will be RAG's last event before Christmas!!

Find out more detials about Baby Bummit here.

Could you dive into the abyss?

How does jumping off a 150-foot indoor platform sound? Scary? Fun? How about if we added semi-darkness, dry-ice, and whirling spotlights?

To some of you that may sound like a nightmare, but if it appeals to you (or you just want to conquer your fear of heights) then sign up to the RAG Bungee Team!

The first jump is on the 25th November at the Magna Science Adventure Centre near Meadowhall. Find out more here.

Leaping Back On The Proverbial Stallion...

Alright Guys!

After the massive success that was the impressively wonderful Magical Mystery Tour, I bet you thought SheffieldRag would be hanging up our charity boots and watching at least 150 episodes of Hollyoaks before our next event, right? Wrong!

Sheffield RAG is leaping right back on the proveberbial stallion with these two altruistic extravaganzas of flavour.

First up is Spiderwalk, Sheffield RAG's 25 mile sponsored midnight walk around the Peaks. Tickets are on sale in the box office now for £10 + minimum sponsorship cheque for £30 which we will only cash should you fail to raise the minimum sponsorship (you won't, don't worry, we believe in you in you...!). So come along you crazy gallavanting insomniacs and prove that we're not the lazy bunch of sods everyone thinks we are (at least not all the time).

If walking's not your thing, or you merely like to vary your methods of manual transportation then why not CRAWL. That's right one of Sheffield's biggest, best and brightest bar crawls 'Get Rag'd' is here. 700 students will embark upon two routes and end up at Population where we're very excited to confirm that Special Guests will NOT include Chico or Big Brother's Samanda. Instead the only Special Guests will be yourselves, representing RAG in your spookiest attire.

As Carry On...'s Sid James used to say before they found those dubiously aged females living in his attic and he was forced to tone down the innuendo: "What a lovely pair... of events!"

Get involved guys,
Sheffield RAG x

Magical Mystery Tour, Monday 8th October! Don't miss out!

Hey Guys!

Our first event is nearly upon us: The Magical Mystery Tour - Monday 8th October 7pm. Join over 90 students as you all board a coach and get taken to a mystery city for a night of mystery...and um...magic.

If you want to come (which you do!!) tickets are £20 (includes coach travel to and from Sheffield, a free drink and club entry...and more magical mystery than you can shake a stick at!!) on sale now at the box office and are selling fast.

All profits go to JDRF - Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Buy your ticket for further info (see? Well mysterious!).

Thanks!

We'd like to say a big thank you to Stringer, Luke, Simon, Robin Steve, Angus, Dave and Mark for who sacrificed their afternoons to help us unload a million bottles of water from a lorry!

Welcome to the new SheffieldRag.com!

Okay, so it has taken us a fair amount of time, but the brand new SheffieldRag.com is alive and kicking.

We'll be adding to and improving the site on a regular basis on the run up to Fresher's Week (which is the 24th-30th September, folks!) so stay tuned, and look out for us at the Fresher's Fair!
